Patient Flow Management System for an Emergency Room
North Estonia Medical Centre
Tallinn, Estonia
Hansab installed an integrated patient flow management system in the Emergency Medical Unit in the North Estonia Medical Centre. This system is the first one in Estonia and rather innovative in Europe.
The patient takes a queue number from the patient flow management system. When the number is due, the patient is registered and referred for medical condition appraisal. Depending on the category of help needed the nurse prints a wristband with a barcode bearing the information of the patient. The patients are attended to the emergency room according to the queue number. After making necessary procedures, the customers register themselves at the self-service kiosk and the nurse immediately receives information about it and can call the patient in.
The advantage of the system is that the patients have a specific registration number and are directed to doctors accordingly. The patient's movement is systematic, organized and personal data is stored delicately.
