The Revolution of Electric Vehicles

The electric car industry is growing rapidly and every major car manufacturer is making steps towards a cleaner and quieter driving experience. One of the most apparent reasons is political pressure by different governments, which has set targets and goals to reduce emissions or limit usage of petrol engine cars while subsidising purchase and owning of electric vehicles (EV). What might be a surprise is that one of the loudest voices in this statement belongs to China, which is struggling with heavy CO2 pollution in the cities due to combustion engines.

Taking a closer look at the Baltics, we see that we are still in a very early phase what concerns EV-s. The reasons are twofold: first, the high price of EV-s and the second, no existent modern charging infrastructure. In the beginning of 2013, Estonia opened a nation-wide direct current (DC, fast charging) network for public use, so that you would have the possibility to charge your EV quickly within the radius of 40km. Unfortunately, this system is technically outdated and does not support most of the modern vehicles since it is using a Japanese specific plug for charging the car with DC power.

Electricity companies are not standing still. We have noticed a lot of preparations and activities for creating an EV charging network. In the future, we will have charging points everywhere ā€“ by the side of highways, on the streets, in supermarkets and private parking lots, by office buildings and homes.

Since transportation sector is playing a bigger role in our business, we have teamed up with a company who is one of the leading manufacturers of EV chargers Circontrol. The company is based in Spain, Barcelona and has been designing and manufacturing chargers for over 20 years. The main focus of the company is on innovation and the quality which aligns well with Hansab. Circontrol offers products for a wide market ā€“ starting from AC chargers for home, office and parking lot use up to DC chargers for rapid charging by highways and on the street.

We are offering simple home chargers directly to the end users on our e-shop and focus more on DC fast chargers in our everyday business.
