Hansab participated EXEX 2019 Payment Forum

Payment Solutions EXEX took place for the 6th time, and this year, merchants, finance representatives, and technology partners gathered Riga. The event hosted nearly 200 participants, the majority from the retail and hospitality sectors.

Hansab hosted the event with Swedbank and Mastercard, bringing along our long term partners Ingenico and Glory.

Key highlights:

Retail prophet Jacqueline Thng kicked off with explaining how Alibaba is changing the retail with an exact omnichannel approach. Chinese influence and consumers were also at heart for many other presenters like Tallink’s Lauri Läheb and UnionPay’s Dejian Xie. For Tallink, the importance of Chinese customers is rising, and UnionPay helps to provide them with a straightforward payment solution.

Martin Zillén from Swedbank and Björn Salomon-Sörensen from Mastercard pointed out that innovating payments need to be in line with regulations and security requirements. Michał Łaszczyk of Ingenico and Henrik Ramström of PayEx introduced the off-line and online payment technology innovations, respectively.

We are striving not towards Cashless Society, but Cash Less Society argued Zennan Green from Glory. Cash will always remain, and merchants need efficient solutions to manage cash. Interestingly, the closing keynote speaker Ruben Boerhof pointed out, that even at Booking.com it is possible to pay in cash for the accommodation. For that, you need to go to the local store, pay and receive a confirmation code. The design should always follow the customer but having in mind business objectives, says Ruben Boerhof.

According to the audience, Payment Solutions EXEX has established itself as the most important industry event in Baltics, and the next event is very much anticipated.
