Helping Children Grow in a Safe Environment
Hansab signed an agreement to support an Estonian SOS Children's Village. Janno Kallikorm, Hansab Estonia managing director explains that it is crucial for Hansab to contribute to the development of society at large. “We are therefore determined to support SOS Children's Village in their respectable activities so that each child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe environment. If we can contribute even a little to it, it will be a great pleasure”, explained Janno.
The Estonian SOS Children's Village is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 that operates thanks to donations from the local government, individuals, companies and international organizations. The aim is to increase the welfare of children and families by offering community-based family care and tailored support for families.
In July 2019, Margus Oro, Managing Director of SOS Children's Village Estonian Association, and Janno Kallikorm, Managing Director of Hansab AS, signed a cooperation agreement to support the activities of the Association.
Margus Oro comments: “SOS Children’s Village is unique because we try to ensure that children who come to us get as close as possible similar living conditions to the ordinary families. How do we do that? First of all, the siblings of one family are not separated and can grow up together. The heart of every family is the SOS mother and/or father, who is present-day and night, in good times and bad, ensuring that the children feel secure and get plenty of attention. Each family is assisted by a social worker and other specialists if needed so that they get all kinds of help in raising the children. As children who come to us are often mentally broken and very traumatized, it is important that psychological help is available as soon as possible. In recent years we have had children for whom life in a large SOS family is unsuitable, and so we are looking for and have already found families who would be willing to take these children to live in their homes. SOS Children's Village is there for advice and strength alongside these families from the moment a family decides to have a child in their family and supports the family in the same way as SOS families living in a children's village”.
