Smart mailboxes at Tartu City Government
29.11.2021
Government offices and companies receive a lot of letters and parcels from couriers every single day. The Tartu City Government was looking for a solution that would make this process less burdensome for administrators.
Hansab proposed a smart mailbox solution that works similarly to parcel machines. We installed MySmartBox at the door of the Tartu City Government. It is a guarded self-service parcel exchange point.
Now postmen, couriers, employees, and citizens alike can leave their parcels to the smart mailbox.
How does a smart mailbox work?
The smart mailbox has smaller compartments for correspondence and larger compartments for parcels. Correspondence boxes are marked with the names of the departments and letters can be placed there without opening the boxes. Each department has its own PIN code, which can be used to open the mailbox and take out letters.
If the courier wants to deliver the parcel, he selects the recipient's name on the screen or enters the recipient's data manually.
The recipient will be automatically notified of the arrival of the parcel with the PIN code.
The shipment can also be pre-processed in a web browser, where you can log in with your user, book a box, and all you have to do is enter the sent PIN code and put the parcel in the locker.
This option is especially convenient for courier companies that send parcels regularly.
It is also possible to add user authentication to the smart mailbox so that the locker can only be used by entering a PIN code.
Web-based software can be used to manage cabinet usage, such as assigning users and permissions, viewing logs, and sending reminders to a package recipient.
