While most parcel lockers are designed for smaller packages, the new parcel locker at JYSK’s Tähesaju store in Tallinn can also accommodate bulky items.
Installed by Hansab, the 41-metre-long parcel locker is the largest parcel locker solution in Estonia. It features 88 compartments, with the largest measuring up to 90 cm in width, 210 cm in depth and 240 cm in height.

Why was a new solution needed?
Collecting bulky items typically involves several steps. Orders must be picked, stored and then retrieved again when the customer arrives. As order volumes increase, warehouse staff spend more and more time handling customer collections.
JYSK’s goal was to streamline the order collection process and implement a solution that would support the company’s wide range of products.
“We wanted to reduce waiting times, simplify the collection process and provide a solution suitable for JYSK’s wide range of products, including bulky items like garden sets and mattresses,” said Artūrs Vikmanis, Chief Operating Officer at JYSK Baltics.

How does the solution work?
The parcel locker is fully integrated with JYSK’s store and warehouse operations. Orders from the online store, physical store and distribution centre move directly into the parcel locker through a new fulfilment process, allowing customers to collect their orders independently.
Once an order is ready, the customer receives an SMS with an access code and can collect it 24/7.
“Employees can place completed orders directly into the locker while customers receive clear collection instructions. This reduces unnecessary handling and creates a smoother experience for both customers and employees,” explained Vikmanis.

The new solution reduces employees’ workload
According to Vikmanis, the new solution has also simplified employees’ day-to-day work. Less time is now spent handling customer orders, allowing employees to focus more on sales and customer service. At the same time, the solution reduces workflow interruptions and makes both store and warehouse operations more efficient.

Flexible order collection
The biggest change for customers is the flexibility of collecting their orders. Customers can collect their purchases independently, 24 hours a day.
Vikmanis explained that the traditional order collection process involves several factors that can lead to delays or an unpleasant customer experience. “With the new solution we eliminate several of these risks and make the process faster, simpler and more predictable,” said Artūrs Vikmanis, Chief Operating Officer at JYSK Baltics.

Hansab as a Partner
Hansab installed and integrated the parcel locker with JYSK’s existing store and warehouse processes, ensuring that the entire order journey – from warehouse picking to customer collection – functions as one seamless process. The result is a solution that improves operational efficiency while providing customers with a faster and more flexible collection experience.
